Stilettos With My Latte Staging

Nothing is better than a Saturday night laying in bed and watching a new Hallmark movie. Luckily for us, their Spring Fling flicks have began premiering and tomorrow Lisa Whelchel (you know - Blair from the Facts of Life) stars in Hearts of Spring. As an additional treat, Lisa's daughter, Clancy plays her daughter in the movie. This seems like a dream take your kid to work experience.

As the movie started, I immediately hit pause...

Ahhhh...the most anticipated blog to my family & friends...they all have been asking me what are we watching this season and when do the new shows start.

I think the only thing that held me over this summer was my introduction to Netflix (thank you Anrina). Where has this been all my life?! I have been re-watching Gossip Girl from the first season - and yup, it is even better the 2nd time.

Here is my pending schedule for the new fall season (new shows are in red, my regulars are in purple; and yes, I have 24 shows on my schedule not counting mid-season premieres):


I suppose I should also throw in here...FOOTBALL IS BACK. You know what that means...there will be a surplus of game food, drinks, and possibly f bombs over the next couple of months.

I have to get something off my chest. It is hard for me to admit, buttttt I am really worried about my 49ers. Still devastated about the loss of Jim Harbaugh - I wish we would have rid ourselves of York instead. But I get it...Harbaugh had to do what was best for him. But not only do we have to contend with a new coach, our team feels brand new. The only positives I currently see is Bowman is back from his injury and he looked pretty good in the off-season. AND Kaepernick worked out with Kurt Warner in the off season. Hopefully, he has some new tricks up his sleeve.

For the sanity of my household, my friends, my co-workers, and my heart murmur (because some things call for an increase of coffee, liquor, pizza, and cupcakes), let us pray my team does something this year. And by something I mean win the Superbowl baby since we are hosting it! I am ready for the shit talking to commence - I cannot wait to see what we bring to the field when we open the season Monday night at 10:20 against the Vikings. I suppose I should warn my co-workers now I may be a tad bit  cranky on Tuesday since I am anticipating a late night.

Soooooo what tv show are you most excited to see come back from hiatus? I think my answer has changed since just last week...right now I am going with Chicago Fire & Grey's Anatomy. Scandal & Blacklist are a close second. (yes, I can count - but I figure I can have 2 shows in both the #1 & #2 positions...sue me).

Let's just say the Captain was rather quiet while I attempted to keep my celebrating to a minimum after our first defensive touchdown with 14:06 left in the 1st Quarter - it was rather hard considering all the garbage him & my brother were talking all week about our defense (which I am STILL concerned about) all week - but that defense sure did score on those boys. Ok, ok...I will shut up now because we still have a long season ahead of us with injuries & suspensions. Needless to say I am fired up for football season!

I have been anxiously awaiting today for some time. I knew as soon as I awakened I would be able to open my laptop and watch a brand new episode of One Life to Live via hulu.com.

I must say I was a tad bit skeptical when I discovered a lot of my favorite roles were recast and some just were not returning to the canvas. However, I loved the premiere episode - I think I have found my new morning coffee.

Thanks to Prospect Park for bringing back All My Children and One Life to Live. Now I suppose I can relieve my DVR of the "final" episodes. Or maybe not.

Do you think more scripted television shows will begin to broadcast online in order to have more risque content?

As I am sitting here catching up on all my shows, The Carrie Diaries ended with a gem I had to share:

Today marks the second Monday I will encounter knowing Gossip Girl is over...FOREVER. My hopes for a movie were doused when they showed what happened 5 years later at Dan & Serena's wedding. Speaking of which, Jeannette would like to know why it took them five MORE years to get married (even though this would only put them at 25, 26).

Can we say disappointed?! I expected so much more from the finale. Although I appreciated the hour look back on the series, I would have preferred a 2 hour scripted finale and maybe the review the week prior. Yet I still cannot put my finger on what was missing. I definitely wanted Chuck and Blair to marry. That happened and they even had a son, Henry. Nate still had no real purpose - I needed them to show him in a fulfilling relationship not being used or played - BUT they have him running for mayor. Seriously?! Politics would crush him. Lily with William?! Rufus and Lisa Loeb?! Huh?! What?! As much as I hated Georgina she was likable in this last episode. I still love Jenny.

Now let's deal with the elephant in the room - WHO IS GOSSIP GIRL?! Let me start off by saying, I would love to get him in a room on a table with wax and hair removal strips. Every damn week it grated my nerves how he would wear v neck shirts and have all that chest hair. It's inhumane. Sheesh lonely boy! Do you have something against manscaping?! I promise you would fit into their world so much easier if you would succumb to it. *steps off soapbox and moving on* YES, Dan was Gossip Girl - he wasn't born into this world, but maybe he could write himself into it. It was apparent, yet I still think it's weird - my first issue is a man conveying the exact tone a teenaged girl would use when gossiping. And my other problem was the fact he put on a facade for 6 seasons how he never wanted to be a part of that world, yet all along that is exactly what he desired. So Dan who the hell are you really???? What is it that you really wanted? Was Serena your consolation prize since Blair was with her beloved? You have some explaining to do. I am waiting!!!

And what never ceases to amaze me as I watch this show - the fashion. Kudos Eric Daman. I have always had a thing for Blair's head bands. Check out these wedding dresses. GORGEOUS is an understatement.

This is how I will remember Gossip Girl

Now that it's over, what do you think? Satisfied with the ending or left wanting more? I am greedy - I need more. I must grab the complete box set of this series once it is released and put it on my shelf next to another classic, Sex and the City. Girls night anyone???

Of course I have more favorite shows, my addiction to tv is real. I refuse to list my reality tv shows that are my secret indulgence. Although notable mention to Tia & Tamera - there is something so refreshing and wholesome about that show and I am excited new shows began airing again last night on Style network at 9pm.

Ahhhhhhhhh, The Good Wife - I kind of feel like this show has now come full circle with Alicia supporting Peter, her husband. Not sure where they will go this season, but I am prepared for a huge twist. I am very intrigued by the current Calinda story line.

Emily is fixated on her Revenge. She will not rest until everyone pays for her father's demise. And Georgina from Gossip Girl said it best Monday night, "Revenge is a dish best served serialized...one delish chapter at a time." As my inner pettiness applauded and wholeheartedly agreed with this statement - I remembered I still need to watch this week's episode of Revenge. I cannot believe Victoria is dead and I am totally over Conrad. He has some consequences coming his way and hopefully soon.

I swear 90210 has hit the lottery for having handsome, hard bodied males cast in their show. I get so sidetracked by their looks (shallow Hol), that I sometimes have to rewind to catch the plot. Seems like Silver was trying to bring Teddy back over to the straight side this week - Adrianna is driving me crazy already "juggling" Taylor with Dixon. And Liam, Liam, Liam - I am over Vanessa blackmailing him - new story line PLEASE!!!! And I am loving Naomi with Max. Speaking of which can we get Annie a man??? And Naviyd this whole "player" mentality isn't you - so cut it out and deal with your hurt feelings like a man.

Not too excited about SVU still, I need Stabler. And that's all I have to say about that...for now as I continue to watch every week.

Still loving Blue Bloods. Linda now working?! Peter, Erin's ex-husband, made a reappearance and wants to be a part of his daughter's life after 2 seasons?! Get real! One of the major aspects I admire about this show is the family togetherness and the fact they always have Sunday dinner together. I love that tradition and I feel families should adopt it again and stop living such a fast paced life all the time.

DWTS All Stars has been so darn good!!! The dancing has been exceptional this season which was expected. I am cherishing the weeks I have left to see Maks on the show since it is his last season (his contract is up and he has signed on to start filming a movie in January). Who are you rooting for to win?! I honestly have no favorite this season and I am just enjoying the entertainment from everybody's routines. I doubt I will be able to master the final freestyles this year with all the gymnastics and complex steps incorporated. Ah well...I will definitely try as I get Thanksgiving Dinner and dessert started which has become my tradition. And my mom's tradition: she shakes her head, laughs, and tells me I am crazy. Hey! You only live once. Might as well have some fun, right?!

Who will win the coveted spot of Wednesday 10pm on my tv?! Since Revenge moved to Sundays, I was left open and with 2 new shows premiering, I couldn't decide...at first.

I opted to watch Nashville last week and I must admit, I was rather bored - I couldn't even tell you what transpired during the episode.

Then I put on the DVR and watched Chicago Fire - I was fully captivated the entire time, experienced chills and even an emotional response; it also didn't hurt the men were attractive and hard bodied - there was no competition. Chicago Fire is definitely added to my line up and Nashville is out.

What did you think of these two shows?

Shonda, Shonda, Shonda...you do it to me every year, and now I am addicted to a 3rd show of yours - not even sure where to begin...Scandal, Private Practice, or Grey's Anatomy...

Thank you Gossip Girl for the wonderful birthday gift...it was everything I had been waiting for ever since the season finale...I cannot believe I only have 9 more episodes of one of my fave shows, but I will cherish what we have left together. Not sure how I will deal with our separation, but...

As I become engaged in the Upper Westside's latest schemes and manipulation, I will fall in love all over again with their fashion and NYC. Speaking of fashion, did you see Serena's yellow & white dress - to die for - and then the button detail up the back...ummmmhmmmmm. Have you ever visited Possessionista's blog?! So let's chat: Rufus hooking up with Ivy - GAG ME! How long will it take for Blair and Chuck to reconcile because they HAVE to? What drama will come forth as a result of this new and improved book Georgina is forcing Dan to write? Will Dan always be "lonely boy"? Will Nate ever get it together and not get taken advantage of by the women in his life? Rumor has it a core/old couple will reunite around the 8th episode - but Chuck & Blair seem too obvious, right??? Can we not have so much focus on Serena (the only thing I am looking for is a baby bump, why else would she marry Ryan Reynolds so quickly and that flowy dress was perfect to conceal it). And lastly WHO IS GOSSIP GIRL???? I guarantee they won't reveal until the final episode - but let's start the guessing game. Some people think Dorota - I may go with Jenny. She always was up to stirring up trouble. My opinion may change as the episodes go on - I will keep you posted.

I swear GG writers knew they were premiering on my bday, they left me with this tidbit with age breeds wisdom and the best is yet to come.

Crisp mornings, the craving of hot beverages, thinking about what pair of boots I will wear first, my bday around the corner, and you know what else?! Fall tv is on the verge of premiering and I couldn't be more excited!!! Where did we leave off?!

The thoughts that are still prevalent in my mind are WHO IS QUINN (Scandal)?! Who else is going to die as a result of the plane crash (Grey's Anatomy)?! How is the captain going to clean up being caught in the bed with a dead body (SVU)?! WHO is Addison going to pick with this being her last season of Private Practice?! Will Blair and Chuck FINALLY get it right and get together and will Serena get her life (Gossip Girl) - they only have 10 episodes (YES - LESS THAN HALF A SEASON) left ever so they better get it right or I will be a disgruntled fan). I already know Dixon isn't dead, I hope 90210 has some better plots this season and Liam stops being such a pushover. I won't even get to my questions with Revenge, but I cannot wait to see what Emily is up to next.

I will also try out some new shows: Chicago Fire and Emily Owens M.D. There are some comedies that appear interesting, I will check them out when my shows are on rerun NBC's The New Normal and CBS's Partners.

Here is my fall tv schedule - I won't even embarrass myself and include cable and reality tv programming - this is strictly network.


Sunday: 9pm The Good Wife (CBS) and Revenge (ABC). Revenge is taking Desperate Housewives' old time slot - both of these shows premiere on 9/30.

Monday: 8pm -10pm  Dancing With the Stars premieres on 9/24 on ABC. And although I may not know exactly what I am doing on my birthday, I do know at 8pm I will be tuned into the CW for the premiere of 90210 and then 9pm Gossip Girl comes on for it's final season. Was this the CW's birthday gift to me?! Anybody want to have a premiere viewing party with cupcakes and wine???

Tuesday: Emily Owens M.D. (CW) premieres on 10/16 at 9pm. Private Practice (ABC) will begin on 9/25 at 10pm. I actually think Scandal proved it can stand on its own without a lead in from Grey's and Private Practice can move back to its old time slot so I can have my medical night with crossovers, but who am I?!

Wednesday: SVU (CBS) premieres at 9pm on 9/26 and NBC's Chicago Fire will start on 10/10 at 10pm.

Thursday: Grey's Anatomy and Scandal both premiere on ABC at 9/27 - 9pm and 10pm respectively.

Friday: Blue Bloods comes back on 9/28 at CBS at 10pm.


Did I miss anything?! Ladies, are you ready to watch?! Have your phones charged because I am ready for all the discussion and snarky commentary. 

and Michael Strahan! This was one of the worse kept secrets...nevertheless, I am excited about the direction the show will go - I love watching Kelly in the mornings and the chemistry/ jovial relationship the two of them share, I am sure the ratings will soar. I must say I am impressed an African American man received this coveted position. Now if only they will give me tickets so I can go to a live taping on my birthday.

An honorable mention also goes to Terrence J as he landed Ryan Seacrest's spot next to Guiliana Rancic on E! News - this came as a surprise as I had no idea Ryan was leaving.

I also happened to catch Steve Harvey's new talk show which premiered today at 2pm on NBC (I won't be able to watch after next week unless I set the DVR since it conflicts with General Hospital's new time slot) - and I enjoyed it! 

I am really proud African Americans are busting through the glass ceilings that were previously in place and seemed unbreakable for some time. Anything is possible with perseverance and hard work.

When I was a little girl, I vividly remember Friday nights when my mom would watch Dallas and Knots Landing. She would have my brother and I ready for bed by the start of her shows. AND if we had plans, the VCR was set to record them. 

Now if you watch tv as much as I do, then you would know these are all slogans from 2 of my favorite shows - Desperate Housewives and Scandal.

I haven't been blogging much - I have been throwing myself into these tv finales and enjoying me time - and I must say, I am very relaxed...now let's discuss these finales -

First up, Desperate Housewives and their SERIES finale - I am not ready to kiss the ladies of Wisteria Lane goodbye just yet - and this is proven by the fact I just re-watched the finale - as a whole, I am satisfied, but I am disappointed with the fact there is no hope for a movie or a tv special, since they already let us know how their life pans out. I still cannot believe Mike died this season, but I guess it is ok since the show will never come on again.

There is no need to even discuss the awesomeness that is Ringer since CW decided to cancel it. I am NOT happy about this one bit, but then there's Gossip Girl...this show has picked up when I had lost all faith - some things that are still bothering me a) I really need to punch Bart in his face b) Serena needs to get a life and stop sleeping with all of Blair's "leftovers" ON the same bar... remember the first season with Nate c) Lily is irking my soul and I hope Bart does her dirty d) Can Chuck and Blair get together once and for all with no drama or chase?! And this is my major disappointment - last season is the FINAL season of this show AND it's ending in December - so that means I don't get a full season. I am trying to wrap my hands around that tidbit CW just released. Moving on...

90210 - this season was hit or miss, but the finale - can we get original please?! I am sick of a tragic accident at the end of the season which leaves us guessing if a major character is alive or not - first Liam, now Dixon and then back to the original with Brandon and Dylan. *shakes head at writers* I love Naomi is finally back with Max, but how long will they be happy?! And really Silver?! A baby with Teddy??? Annie and Adrianna aren't even worth mentioning - only if Annie gets back with Liam and leaves the preacher boy alone - then there's Austin - I wish his character would be developed into something of substance. Call me a cougar, but am I the only one who noticed as these actors grow up, they are becoming very yummy - Austin, Liam, Naviyd, and even Max! And let me not forget the sexy suit wearing Gossip Girl men - Chuck and Nate. I wish Chuck talked in his accent on the show - and I can just imagine him smelling so good as he talks that talk wearing his suit - dreamy. *snapping back to reality now*

Grey's Anatomy emotionally drained me last night - I could not stop crying - I am at a lost of words. Shonda Rhimes is a brilliant writer - I still cannot get over the fact Lexie died and Teddy is leaving for good too. Will Sloane survive??? And what pissed me off the most is the fact no one at the hospital even knows their plane crashed and they are in the wilderness waiting to be rescued. I am so pissed at myself for not DVRing this episode, because I really need to watch again...maybe this time there will be less tears. Guess I will have to watch online - and now I have 4 months to toss around ideas in my head as to what happens next season. *le sigh*

Scandal cannot get anymore ,well, scandalous - but knowing Shonda Rhimes it can and will. I had to grab a glass of wine to deal with FLOTUS and Cyrus - Millie will do anything to ensure her husband (in name only) holds on to his power and position - what is her agenda? Along with Cyrus - what is he up to? Then there's Quinn - who is she?! What is her background story? Oh Fitz and Olivia - can they really move on from each other??? And the President's voice resonating with take off your clothes mid-episode. Yes, this is another show I am going to have to watch again because I am sure I missed something and I cannot wait to see what happens next season. Just give me one minute to process...

What are your thoughts on this year's finales? The only 2 left are SVU and Revenge - I will have to catch them on DVR since I will be living it up in NYC next week, but more on that later...

I have been anxiously awaiting the premiere of Scandal since I first heard about it when Kerry Washington was filming last summer...I love Shonda Rhimes (writer/creator for Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and now Scandal) and I love almost everything Kerry Washington is in (she is very selective of roles she takes) - I could not believe they made me wait until April. We all know patience is not my strong suit.

Olivia Pope is a complex woman - she is unrelenting with her process in how she eradicates her client's problems - she will find a solution. I tend to think her tenacity is a result of past hurt she has endured - time will tell as this character evolves. *spoiler alert* My one gripe is the fact a black woman was sleeping with a married man and the President for that matter.

Scandal is now taking ABC's Thursday night slot at 10pm away from Private Practice - I get it since Grey's Anatomy is a great lead in for a new show to gain more viewers, but I don't like Private Practice moving to Tuesdays at 10 - I like my medical shows on one day (since their characters are entwined), but I guess ABC's Tuesday night comedies are not doing well enough in ratings to lead in a freshman show.

Whatever the case, I am intrigued from the premiere and they have me as a viewer; the DVR will be programmed accordingly.

Who are you most excited to see? I am pretty interested in Sherri Shepherd, Jaleel White, and Maria Menounos. And I cannot wait to see what routine I love the most this season - you know the one whenever the song comes on, I start doing it in the house or in the car - my parents think I am insane. Ha! 

today was the day - the last airing of One Life to Live...EVER. I have had this weird feeling in my stomach the past few days - knowing it was coming to an end. I have been reading every blog, interview, and tweet in regards to the demise of this great part of (my) history - everyday (as of late) I have cried along with the story lines and as it seemed to keep getting better and better I would think to myself, it cannot really be ending. I thought I was preparing myself, but I still do not think I was ready to say good bye.

Last night was the much anticipated season premiere of The Game - what did you guys think?! Was it worth the wait???

My personal thoughts on the episode:

• I do not like how they rush through so many scenes - they need to take their time and allow for proper story development. Although the same writers moved with them to BET, the show definitely isn't of the same caliber from the CW days. 
• I HATE how they aged Brit Brat. She is now a teenager kissing a boy in front of her father! I am 29 years old and I wouldn't even dare kiss a man in front of my daddy - unless it was followed by the exchange of vows - and even then, I am pretty sure I would NOT tongue down the man. Have some respect young lady. 
• And then there is the whole Janay issue - Janay is the character Amber loves to hate (I crack up at all her ideas to write in to get her OFF the show) - there is NO way Derwin would have hosted his son's bday party at my house AND invite his child's mother AND have me do all the work - nope, too tough of a pill to swallow when Janay gives her no water - especially when they wanted a picture of just mommy and daddy with the birthday boy and "mommy" told me to go get the cupcakes ready. WHAT?! You will not try to run things in OUR home - nope, not at all! 
• Last but not least, the whole abortion issue - Derwin had no right to be mad - if they were not together, it was not his business, therefore Melanie did NOT have to divulge that information and NO I do not view it as lying by omission.
